Ratanakiri Province (Banlung Town) is located in the northeast of Cambodia and is approximately 588 Km from Phnom Penh. The province is bordered by Vietnam to the east, Lao the north, Steung Treng to the west and Mondulkiri to south. Rattanakiri covers an area of 11,052 Km2 and is divided in to 9 disticts. The population of Ratanakiri is around 136, 045 with approximately 75% of people being from various ethnic groups Ratanakiri province is rich in natural resources such as stone and gold. The land is mountainous and there are many rivers and lakes, good weather (esthnicminorities) minotity which offers tremendous potential for eco-tourism. Community based tourism development is very importantfactor to conserve tourism resources and contribute to povety reduction in local community.
YEAK LOAM LAKE: Situated 5 Km south-east of Banlung. The Yeak Loam Lake (Volcanic crater) is the most beautiful lake of Ratanakiri formed by a volcanic eruption.
